Bomani Tented Lodge

Luxury lodge in the southeast of Hwange National Park

Bomani Tented Lodge is located in a private concession in the southeast of Hwange National Park and offers sweeping views across the wildlife-rich Ngamo Plains and Bomani Pan. The camp is situated within the 5,000-hectare Ngamo Forest, a secluded setting that ensures peace, privacy, and undisturbed wildlife viewing. A unique feature is the journey to the lodge aboard the open-sided safari train: first by road from Victoria Falls to Dete Station, followed by a three-hour ride on the “Elephant Express” railcar. Alternatively, the lodge can also be reached by road or by light aircraft.

Accommodation at Bomani Tented Lodge

The lodge comprises nine spacious safari tents, a thatched bungalow, and the family-friendly tented Sable suite with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The five Saddlebill tents are raised on wooden platforms, offering panoramic views of the Ngamo Plains, while the four Spurwing suites, the bungalow, and the Sable suite are all ground-level with direct views of the waterhole. All accommodations feature private bathrooms with showers and toilets, fans or air conditioning (in the bungalow), private verandas, and tasteful furnishings. Electricity is provided by generators, and Wi-Fi is available in the communal areas. The main building houses a lounge, bar, dining area, fireplace, and a small plunge pool overlooking the plains.

Activities and tours at Bomani Tented Lodge

Bomani Tented Lodge offers game drives through Hwange National Park as well as bush walks. There are excellent chances to see elephants, buffalo, lions, giraffes, zebras, hippos, and numerous bird species. Night drives within the private concession bring guests closer to the mysterious world of nocturnal animals such as hyenas, porcupines, and pangolins. A special experience is the so-called “Pump Run” during the dry season: full-day excursions to remote waterholes where the pumping systems supplying water to the wildlife are maintained and serviced — combined with an extended safari and picnic in the wild. Visits to nearby villages and schools are also part of the program, offering fascinating insights into the life of the local community.
