Little Makalolo
Intimate luxury camp in the Hwange National Park
Little Makalolo is located in the southeastern part of Zimbabwe's Hwange National Park within the private Linkwasha-Makalolo Concession. The surrounding Ngamo Plains are characterised by open grasslands, scattered teak woodlands, Kalahari sands and a network of natural and artificial waterholes that attract an impressive variety of wildlife throughout the year. Its exclusive location away from the park's public roads allows guests to enjoy game drives across a vast wilderness with very few other vehicles.
Accommodation at Little Makalolo
With just six tented suites, Little Makalolo is one of the smaller bush camps in Hwange National Park, offering an intimate and personal safari experience. The camp features five spacious standard tented suites and one family suite with two interconnected bedrooms, providing both privacy and uninterrupted views of the surrounding bush. Each suite is built on a raised wooden deck and includes an en-suite bathroom with both indoor and outdoor showers, comfortable seating areas and a private veranda.
The camp's shared areas are equally intimate, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. The open-plan lounge flows seamlessly into the dining area and bar, all overlooking a busy waterhole where wildlife regularly gathers. During the heat of the day, the small swimming pool provides a refreshing retreat, while in the evenings the campfire becomes a natural meeting place where guests can share stories of the day's adventures and listen to the sounds of the African bush.
Activities and tours at Little Makalolo
An unforgettable highlight is the opportunity to spend a night at the Madison Pan Star Bed. Set on an elevated platform overlooking a nearby waterhole, guests can sleep beneath Africa's spectacular night sky while experiencing the sights and sounds of the wilderness from a truly unique perspective.
Another Little Makalolo's distinctive feature is its underground photographic hide overlooking the waterhole. From this unique vantage point, guests can observe elephants, buffalo and many other animals at eye level without disturbing their natural behaviour. The safari experience is complemented by morning and afternoon game drives, night drives with spotlights, guided walking safaris and birdwatching excursions led by experienced guides.
