Tum Tum Treehouse Lodge by Imvelo Safari Lodges is located in the southeastern part of Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe. Nestled among a sparse woodland of teak and camelthorn trees along a natural depression with several waterholes, the lodge offers excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing directly from the property. Elephants, antelope and other animals visit the waterholes throughout the day, creating memorable safari experiences without leaving the lodge. Tum Tum Treehouse Lodge is easily reached by air via Linkwasha Airstrip followed by a road transfer, or through connections with Imvelo's other safari lodges.
Accommodation at Tum Tum Treehouse Lodge
The name "Tum Tum" originates from a historic waterhole that was once used by the San, the region's original inhabitants. The elevated treehouses were designed in collaboration with specialist treehouse builders and carefully constructed to protect the ancient camelthorn trees for generations to come.
The lodge offers just five accommodation units, creating an intimate safari experience. Four spacious treehouses are raised approximately five to seven metres above the ground and combine timber, canvas and large glass sliding doors to immerse guests in the surrounding wilderness. Each treehouse features an en-suite bathroom, ceiling fan, safe, mosquito nets and a private wooden deck overlooking the treetops and the wildlife paths below. A raised family tent with two separate bedrooms and two bathrooms provides comfortable accommodation for families or small groups travelling together.
The heart of the lodge is the open-plan main area, which incorporates a lounge, bar and dining area with sweeping views over the nearby waterholes. A natural rock swimming pool offers a refreshing place to relax between game drives, while Wi-Fi is available in the central guest area.
Activities and tours at Tum Tum Treehouse Lodge
Guests can enjoy morning and afternoon game drives through Hwange National Park, guided bush walks led by experienced professional guides, and wildlife photography from a ground-level photographic hide overlooking one of the waterholes. Visits to the Mlevu Rhino Sanctuary provide valuable insight into community-based rhino conservation and the work of the local anti-poaching teams. Cultural visits to nearby communities also offer an authentic opportunity to learn about the lives of the people living on the edge of Hwange National Park.
