Thorntree River Lodge by African Bush Camps is located on the banks of the Zambezi River in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park on the Zambian side, just around 20 minutes from the world-famous Victoria Falls. Its location combines the tranquillity of a natural riverside setting with the proximity to one of Africa’s most remarkable natural wonders. Surrounded by lush riverine vegetation and the diverse landscapes of the national park, the lodge provides an ideal base for exploring the area around Livingstone, the Zambezi River and Victoria Falls in depth.
Accommodation at Thorntree River Lodge
The lodge consists of eight luxurious suites as well as two spacious family suites. All accommodation units are positioned along the riverbank and feature private terraces overlooking the Zambezi, private plunge pools, indoor and outdoor showers, and comfortable bathrooms. Additional amenities include air conditioning, minibars, mosquito nets, fans and other comforts designed for a relaxing stay in the African wilderness.
The spacious communal area at Thorntree River Lodge has been designed as an open gathering space with impressive views over the Zambezi River. The lounge flows seamlessly into the elegant dining area, where African-inspired cuisine is served. The waterfront deck features a stylish boma with a fire pit, a library with Wi-Fi, and an infinity pool that appears to merge with the surrounding river landscape. The facilities are complemented by a spa and a well-equipped fitness area.
Activities and tours at Thorntree River Lodge
The lodge offers a comprehensive all-inclusive experience with a wide range of activities already included in the stay. These include private boat cruises on the Zambezi River, cultural encounters, catch-and-release fishing, canoe excursions, guided walking experiences to observe rhinos, and game drives in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. Visits to Victoria Falls on the Zambian side and, depending on conditions, the Zimbabwean side can also be arranged. For families, the lodge provides special children’s activities, including the Ngwana Club, which offers age-appropriate experiences focused on nature, discovery and adventure.
