Named after the local Nhanzwa chief, the Hwange National Park is one of the world’s great elephant sanctuaries and Zimbabwe’s largest National Park, covering some 14600 km². It is located in northwestern Zimbabwe, just off the main road from Bulawayo and Victoria Falls and the border with Botswana.
The Victoria Falls are the biggest waterfalls in Africa, situated in the mighty Zambezi River, the fourth largest African river system. The Vic Falls (local name Mosi-oa-Tunya: "The smoke that thunders") are located at the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe.
The Zambezi National Park is located adjacent and upstream from the Victoria Falls National Park, covering 573km² alongside the Zambezi River. The small but scenic national park is home to the “Big 5” and many other African wild animals.
